  • School Name: The full name of your school.
  • School Address: The address of your school.
  • School Centre Number: This is a unique code that identifies your school, and it can be gotten from your school administration.

2.3 Subjects Selection

Selecting the right subjects is an important part of your registration. You need to choose subjects based on the courses you are studying in school. Be careful to choose the subjects you are prepared for, as NECO will not allow changes to be made after the registration.

  • Compulsory Subjects: These include English Language and Mathematics, which every student must take.
  • Elective Subjects: Depending on your area of study (Science, Arts, or Social Science), you will select elective subjects related to your course.

2.4 Passport Photograph

A clear passport photograph is another requirement for NECO registration. The photograph should meet the following conditions:

  • The photo must be recent (taken within the last three months).
  • It should have a white or light-colored background.

  • School ID Card: This may be needed to confirm you are a student of your school.
  • Previous NECO Result (if any): If you have taken NECO exams before, you might need to provide your previous result.

2.6 Registration Fee

Every student is required to pay a registration fee for NECO exams. The amount may vary from year to year, so it is important to check the current registration fee for the 2025/2026 exams. This payment is usually made through your school or online. Make sure you get a receipt or confirmation of payment to show that you have paid the correct fee.

Tip:

It’s important to make the payment early to avoid missing the registration deadline. Some students miss the deadline because they wait until the last minute to pay.

3. How to Register for NECO 2025/2026

Now that you know the basic requirements, let’s talk about the registration process itself. Registration for NECO is done online through the official NECO website. Your school will guide you through the process, but here’s what to expect.

3.1 Online Registration

  • Go to the official NECO website: The NECO website will have a portal for online registration.
  • Create an account: If this is your first time registering for NECO, you will need to create an account on the website.
  • Fill out the registration form: Enter all the required information such as your personal details, school details, and subject choices.

  • Payment: Make the payment for the registration fee using the available payment options. Some schools may handle this step for you, while others may guide you on how to do it on your own.

3.2 School Registration

Some schools may handle the registration process for you. In this case, you will need to:

  • Provide the required information: Make sure your details are correct.
  • Pay the fee: Your school will tell you how to make the payment.
  • Confirm your subjects: Review the subjects with your school administration before finalizing your registration.

Tip:

Make sure that your school has completed the registration process on time, and that you have received a confirmation slip after registering.

4. NECO Registration Deadline

Every year, NECO sets a registration deadline for all students. You must complete your registration before this deadline, or you may not be able to sit for the exam. The deadline is usually announced on the NECO website and through your school. Make sure you keep track of this date and complete your registration early.

4.1 Avoid Late Registration

If you miss the registration deadline, you might have to pay extra fees or even be disqualified from sitting for the exam. To avoid this:

  • Start early: Begin your registration as soon as the portal opens.
  • Keep track of dates: Your school should give you a timeline for registration. Make sure you follow it.

5. Final Checklist for NECO Registration

Before you submit your registration, use the following checklist to make sure you have met all the requirements:

  • Entered correct personal information (name, date of birth, gender, etc.).
  • Provided the correct school information (name, address, school number).
  • Selected the correct subjects based on your course.
  • Uploaded a clear and recent passport photograph.
  • Paid the registration fee and received a payment receipt.
  • Provided all required documents (birth certificate, school ID, etc.).

Conclusion

Registering for the NECO 2025/2026 exams requires careful attention to detail. To avoid problems, make sure you meet all the requirements and complete the registration process on time.
